A History of Grit

In every nook and cranny
of this coral polyp, the Pacific
serifs a rash of semi-colons; and; and;
a purple-tube sponge strums
a power chord in the counterpoint
of the mote-filtered light.
Its warty fingers designing
brief rococos; photons
from a billion year
cluster that settle
quietly in the roar of the East Australian current…
